This market predicts whether, by 23:59 (UTC) on July 1, 2026, OpenAI will issue a public, official announcement that it is releasing a new physical hardware device for direct use by individual consumers.
The market resolves to “Yes” if OpenAI publishes an announcement on its official channels (for example, the OpenAI news section, a press release, or developer documentation) stating that a specific hardware device is forthcoming or available. The announcement must contain a description of the hardware device that is not developed primarily for developer or corporate use, and a tentative release date that includes at least the month and year in which it will be available for purchase. It resolves to “No” if no such announcement is made by the deadline.
Verification sources include a timestamped announcement on the “News” section of openai.com (openai.com/news), explicitly describing the hardware device or an official OpenAI social-media channel with a hardware announcement. Coverage in reputable technology news outlets that explicitly quote or link to OpenAI’s official announcement of the hardware device may also be used as resolution sources. If OpenAI later cancels or delays the hardware project, that does not affect the resolution — only the initial public announcement matters.
